Who we are
This policy covers actrand.com, run by Actrand Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company no. 17530261. Registered office: 46 High Street, Holbeach, Spalding, PE12 7ED. We are the "controller" of the personal information described here, which means we decide how it's used and are responsible for looking after it.
You can contact us at support@actrand.com or on 01775 888 303. Our registration number with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) is ZC280954. We haven't appointed a data protection officer, as we aren't required to.
Our comparison site, compare.actrand.com, lets schools save comparisons, so it has its own privacy policy covering that.
Cookies
This website sets no cookies for visitors and stores nothing on your device. There is no cookie banner, because there is nothing to consent to.
The only cookie is for our own staff: when someone from Actrand signs in to edit the website, a cookie keeps them signed in. It is only used on the editing pages, and is deleted when they sign out or after a few hours.
Everything the pages load, including fonts, icons and images, comes from this website. No other company is contacted when you visit. Links to other websites only take you there if you click them.
When you visit the site
Like almost every website, our web server keeps a short log of requests: your IP address, the date and time, the page asked for, the page you came from, and your browser type. We use it to keep the site secure and working. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: running a secure website.
These access logs are deleted automatically after 8 days. Separate error logs, which can include the IP address of a request that caused a problem, are deleted after 14 days. We don't use the logs to identify or profile visitors.
If you contact us
If you email or phone us, we use your name, contact details and what you tell us to reply and to help with your enquiry. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: responding to you, or taking steps you've asked for before entering into a contract. We keep it only as long as we need it for your enquiry and any work that follows, and you can ask us to delete it.
Who we share it with
We don't sell or rent your information, and we only share it where we need to:
- DigitalOcean, which hosts this website in its London data centre, acting on our instructions
- anyone we're required to share it with by law
Where your information is kept
This website and its logs are stored in the UK, in DigitalOcean's London data centre. DigitalOcean is a US company. Where it may access data from outside the UK, it does so under the safeguards in its data processing agreement, including the UK's approved international data transfer terms.
How we keep it safe
The site only works over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and only our own staff can access the server.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of your information
- ask us to correct it
- ask us to delete it
- ask us to restrict how we use it
- object to us using it
- ask for it in a format you can take elsewhere
To use any of these rights, contact us using the details above. It's free, and we'll reply within one month. We don't make any automated decisions about you.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
